Preparing for your photo day

Preparing for your photo day

Embrace the Joy of Photography: A Guide to Stress-Free Portrait Sessions

Photographs are timeless treasures, capturing the unique essence of you and your loved ones. It's natural to feel a flutter of excitement and perhaps a touch of anxiety before a photoshoot. However, with a sprinkle of preparation and a dash of excitement, your session can unfold as effortlessly as a leisurely picnic in the park.

At Waterfall Portraits, I, Nate Feldman, am more than just a photographer; I am a storyteller, ready to translate your joy, bonds, and individuality into stunning, lasting images. My approach is all about making you comfortable and capturing your natural, spontaneous moments. Whether it's a splash in the creek or a serene stroll, your session will be an enjoyable adventure, brimming with genuine smiles and laughter.

Preparing for Your Session

Inform and Involve: Let your guests know about the session well in advance. Share your excitement and what you envision for the day. When everyone's on board and looking forward to the session, it sets a positive tone. Kids especially thrive when they're prepped and part of the planning.

Wardrobe Wisdom: Outfits can set the stage for stunning photos. Opt for coordinated colors over matching sets for a harmonious look. Lay out all the outfits together beforehand to ensure they complement each other. Remember, comfort is key! If you feel great, you'll look great.

Be Prepared: Like any adventure, it's best to come equipped. Pack a bag with essentials like snacks, water, bug spray, a change of clothes, towels, makeup, and any personal care items you might need. Being prepared means you're ready for whatever the day may bring, from unexpected splashes to spontaneous explorations. Remember, we are in the woods! Consider bringing sensible shoes and anything else that would make you more comfortable getting around.

Making the Most of Your Session

Timing is Everything: The golden hour, right after sunrise or before sunset, offers the most flattering natural light for portraits. However, I'm adept at making the best of any time of day. If the golden hour doesn't fit your schedule, don't worry; I'll ensure your photos are radiant regardless.

Feeding Time: A well-fed family is a happy family. Ensure everyone, especially little ones, has had a good meal before the session. A few snacks on hand can also help keep spirits high and hungriness at bay.

Rest and Relaxation: A good night's sleep sets the tone for a smooth session. If anyone's feeling under the weather on the day, a gentle pace and plenty of breaks can keep the session enjoyable for everyone.

Dress for Success: Your clothing choices should reflect your personality and comfort. Whether it's formal attire or casual chic, choose outfits that make you feel confident and at ease. Avoid overly busy patterns, prominent logos, or all-white ensembles that might detract from your natural beauty.

Inclusivity in Every Step: I strive to make photography accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of mobility or neurodiversity. Please share any specific needs or considerations with me in advance so I can tailor the session to suit you perfectly, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all.

Your Day, Your Way: Remember, the most important aspect of your photo session is to capture the joy and love you share. With a bit of preparation and a relaxed approach, your photography experience with Waterfall Portraits will be a delightful adventure, leaving you with beautiful images and happy memories to cherish for years to come. Let's create something beautiful together!

With warm regards,
